Flickr Update

Face lift almost complete

Most of the face lift is complete here on my blog. A few more adjustments to the sidebar and some updates on my flickr page and it should be complete. Now I just need to get in the habit of posting again.

I have started a new blog. You can find it here. This blog is dedicated to student ministry. I will definitely need to be more disciplined to keep up with it. Check it out and let me know what you think. (You can also find it in the side bar.)

And let me know what you think of the new design here as well. Both blogs have a subscription opportunity. Subscribe and stay up on all that is taking place in my head and across campus.

Time for a face lift

Well – I have not done a very good job of keeping this blog updated. And it is in need of face lift. So I will be working on this on and off for the next few days (in between everything else.)

But stay tuned – should have something working in a few days and with a new purpose and plan.

Back at It

It has been way to long between post. I guess I can blame on the very busy life I have been living over the past 4 to 6 weeks. Now that we are well into the semester I have a little room to breath. I figure an update is in order.

The M&M’s are back in school and doing very well. So far the year has started with out a hitch. Despite Micah’s protest each morning about the “torture” of getting up and having to go to school – I think he is enjoying his year thus far. Megan – well, she loves school. Every day is quite a joy to her.

Rhonda is doing well. She always manages to find ways to keep life interesting for all of us as well as manage a good home, care for the kids and take care of me. In the midst of it all she is as resourceful as ever. She is terriffic, a wonderful bride and loving mother. Thank you God for Rhonda!

We are loving our home. Looks like we may be forced into putting some tile down sooner than we thought due to some wet carpet. (Caused by water leak during a toilet installation.) Pray that works out well.

Ministry here is off to a good start. I really sense a different year ahead of us. Not sure why – but it is very different.

I hope to blog a little more often – maybe even get on the plan I originally set for the blog. We will have to see.

Plan for this blog.

Well – I am still in the process of thinking through the purpose of my blog and my plans for it. You can see my original plan posted here. I still think this is possible plan for the blog.

Part of my new thinking on blogging comes from a book I have just finished reading. I talk about it here. The book gave some great things to think about when it comes to blogging. So I have been trying to think through the why of this site.

It has been suggested I post a review of this book. I think I will work on one and get it posted. If you want to see some other book reviews from a group of folks committed to doing some reading this summer check out the blog: The Booked Blog.

I think it will offer some good suggestions for some good quality reading.

New Book & Thoughts on Blogging

I have been reading this new book, “the blogging church” by Brian Bailey and Terry Storch.

For the past four years I have had a blog up and running I have found it to be very difficult to stay consistant, establish a purpose for the blog, and how to best use the tool. This book is helping me think through how to best do that for my setting.

You may see some real changes with this blog as I try to focus in and use this blog as a tool for life and ministry. I also hope to expand the blogging of my ministry into other areas as well by establishing a better use for the BSM blog.

This has been a good read so far. If you are needing some help defining your blog for personal use or ministry – this book is a good place to start.

Not quite what I was Thinking

Well, as you can see. It has been only one week and I have failed already at posting on this blog the way I have planned. So I guess I will have to start over – AFTER SPRING BREAK.

In the mean time here is a little update:

Rhonda and I (along with the M&M’s) will be leading a group of students to Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. We are going into Chihuahua to look at the possiblities of establishing, or helping an exsisting work to college students on at least one campus.

The Lord as already begin to open some doors for us. I will share more about the open doors later.

I plan on posting on this blog while we are in Mexico – so be checking back often between March 9 – 15 for the full story of our journey into Chihuahua. I hope there will be a few pictures as well.

I am very excited about this trip – especially about taking Rhonda and the M&M’s. This will be Rhonda’s second mission trip together. This will be the first time to take the M&M’s with us. We are looking forward to modeling the truth of missoins to them during the week.

Finally – A New Plan for this Blog

Finally – I have some sort of idea of how I am going to use this blog. Keep in mind: I am not sure any one really reads it – so this may be only for my benefit. (Kinda of like talking to yourself via a blog.) And this plan could evolve into something else. Also, the schedule is flexible. Things may be different one week and lead to some needed changes on the posting.

Enough disclaimers. Here are my thoughts.

Mondays the blog will be dedicated to walking through the Psalms. I am going to post some of my thoughts on my studies through the book of Psalms.

Wednesdays I will offer some reviews or thoughts from some of my personal reading.

Fridays will be reserved for family updates, photos and random thoughts.

The weekend will be reserved for other updates, editing or no blogging at all. Who knows.

This will give me some focus and direction with using this space. So stop by often or simply subscribe with the feed below. I will start with this plan on Wednesday.

A Brief Update

Finding the time to blog has been a bit of a struggle. Another struggle is defining what this blog is for and how I am going to use it. I am still doing some work on this. I desire to participate in this activitiy in a way that is honoring to God, beneficial to others, and a good use of my own time. I am trying to find what that is for me.

UPDATE:

Rhonda and I are on a diet. It has been a week now and we have booth been very faithful to it. We are both hoping on a scale tomorrow. I will let you know how we are doing.

I got a hair cut. Not really a big deal – other than the fact I have buzzed my head. This is a very new look for me. So, many are having to get used to it. Micah and Megan don’t like it much. I think they will get used to it. I will try to post a picture soon.

The M&M’s are doing good. They both continue to do well in school and are growing into a couple great kids. They get so big so fast.

POSSIBLE BLOG TOPICS COMING FORTH:

I have been reading and studing a little about prayer and fasting. I hope to have some thoughts on this soon.

I am back reading Jim Elliots journal. I have learned much from him. I hope to offer some thoughts from him as well.

Well – there is a partial update. I will be back soon.

New Look for my Blog

After a few weeks of contemplating the use of my blog I have decided to make some changes:

1. I moved my old blog from Blogger to this site from WordPress I like the features offered here. I think with what they offer it will enable me to better use my blog.

2. I am seeking to be more useful with my blog. I hope to offer family updates, discoveries from my own walk with God, and a few thoughts on the world around me.

3. I have added some additional pages – “Who am I?” This gives a glimps to who I am. (That is obvious). And post from the BSM Blog – the ministry I have the priveledge of being part of.
